Soft Roofs & Top Caps

“It’s not that you’re non-committal – you’re just flexible. That’s what Can-Am Defender soft roofs and soft tops are all about. When done right, like some of our best-selling options from Green Mountain, Mammoth Skins, and Dragonfire, a Can-Am Defender soft top can rival the protection of a hardtop while also providing additional benefits. For example, soft tops tend to be easier to install and remove, cheaper, and more flexible in terms of working around accessories. Plus, you can find modular systems that allow you to customize your comfort year-round by adding and removing the top, doors, rear panel, and so on as you see fit. We made sure to capture all these attributes and more in this Can-Am Defender soft roof selection so you can find the perfect product for you, not just a “good enough” roof.
While noisy flapping at high speeds is indeed a common issue with Can-Am Defender soft roofs as it is with other makes, the best brands know how to circumvent this problem with form-fitting products. For example, Green Mountain makes roofs that fasten directly to your roll cage and cinch down tight so that you can barrel down the highway or trail without worrying about achieving lift-off or going deaf as your roof flaps around like crazy. If you’re concerned about the weatherproofing ability of Can-Am Defender soft roofs as compared to their more rigid counterparts, know that we take pride in only sourcing the best products as far as UV-resistant and waterproof material is concerned. Check out our carefully selected soft roofline today and find out why more and more riders are transitioning over.

And what about small parts, should you bring some of those along as well? Short answer, yes. A belt is good to have on the machine at all times, and having an axle in the bike or at the very least the truck is also good. It’s hard to know exactly where to draw the line with what to bring, but you definitely need to have room for a cooler full of beverages no matter what. And don’t forget to bring a clutch tool for changing the belt, electrical tape, crescent wrenches, and hose clamps.

Regarding at-home Can-am Defender tools, a grease gun is a must for greasing up wheel bearings. If you’re doing any work on the clutch, be it either the primary or secondary, you’re going to need a special CVT clutch tool if you want to do it right. This tool loosens the belt up by spreading the secondary sheaves, making it so that when you put it all back together, you can do so much easier and, more importantly, correctly. Your Can-Am Defender clutch isn’t something you want to cut corners on, especially since it is your main source to make a machine move. Of course there are ways around using specialized UTV tools, but for what they cost we would without a doubt just recommend buying the right tools to get the job done right the first time.
