DOT Windshields

“Next on our list of things you need in order to become street legal (it’s really not that bad) is the Can-Am Defender DOT-rated windshield. As always, we encourage you to check your local jurisdiction’s rules regarding this, because not every single area requires one, but it’s becoming much more commonplace. First and foremost, let us disclaim that non-DOT-rated windshields aren’t necessarily inferior in their construction or overall quality – it’s just that they don’t meet specific guidelines in a specific way. Can-Am Defender DOT windshields can only have so much tinting, and they’re required to come with a full-coverage glazing. Also, it’s important you know that the bureaucratic box-checkers would be all too happy to ding you for view-obstructing antennas, visors, and other accessories. Just a tip from us to you so the process is a bit easier. When you’ve decided to go street legal, looked up your local rules, and determined that you need a Can-Am Defender DOT windshield, then welcome to the best selection on the market! Whether it’s EMP’s highly popular laminated glass windshield or one of our many other options, you’re sure to find a windshield that does far more than simply fulfilling the minimum requirement. You’ll ride in confidence knowing that your shatter-resistant, perfectly fitted and engineered product is keeping you safe on the road without compromising your visibility, rattling around, or any of that nonsense. Every product in our collection has been thoroughly inspected and tested to pass all regulations and drive like a dream. Save money, achieve street legal status, and find a Can-Am Defender DOT windshield you’ll use for years at Everything Can-Am Offroad. “

And what about small parts, should you bring some of those along as well? Short answer, yes. A belt is good to have on the machine at all times, and having an axle in the bike or at the very least the truck is also good. It’s hard to know exactly where to draw the line with what to bring, but you definitely need to have room for a cooler full of beverages no matter what. And don’t forget to bring a clutch tool for changing the belt, electrical tape, crescent wrenches, and hose clamps.

Regarding at-home Can-am Defender tools, a grease gun is a must for greasing up wheel bearings. If you’re doing any work on the clutch, be it either the primary or secondary, you’re going to need a special CVT clutch tool if you want to do it right. This tool loosens the belt up by spreading the secondary sheaves, making it so that when you put it all back together, you can do so much easier and, more importantly, correctly. Your Can-Am Defender clutch isn’t something you want to cut corners on, especially since it is your main source to make a machine move. Of course there are ways around using specialized UTV tools, but for what they cost we would without a doubt just recommend buying the right tools to get the job done right the first time.
